FACTORS TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING AN EGG INCUBATOR
The main factors that affect the incubation process are: temperature, humidity, ventilation, position, and turning of the eggs.
The factors to consider before buying an incubator are:
1) Egg capacity. An incubator produces better results when operating at capacity.
2) Incubator lifespan: How long the incubator will last and cost of all replaceable parts helps one ascertain the expected cost of maintaining the incubator and or project viability
3) After sales service and availability of parts. Ensure the seller knows about servicing of incubators and has stock other incubator spare parts
4) Accuracy of controls. Buy the most accurate incubator to keep temperature and humidity fluctuations to a minimum.
5) Labour demand. The amount of labour involved in operating the machine and carrying out a thorough sanitation program. The fully automatic incubators with the self-disinfecting UV lamps are the most recommended.
6) The warranty. Buy incubators with a long service warranty
7) Hatching space. Buy an incubator with a hatcher space of at least 1/3 of the egg capacity to ensure better control of the hatching duration.
Ability to preserve heat during a power blackout. Buy an incubator that keeps warm temperatures for long to avoid cold and hot sports within the incubator.
9) Power back up. Buy an adequate size power back up like a generator or battery before setting eggs

DO YOU YOURSELF

Being in your twenties......
It is when you stop going along with the crowd and start
realizing that there are many things about yourself that
you didn't know and may not like. You start feeling
insecure and wonder where you will be in a year or two,
but then get scared because you barely know where you
are now.
You start realizing that people are selfish and that,
maybe, those friends that you thought you were so close
to aren't exactly the greatest people you have ever met,
and the people you have lost touch with are some of the
most important ones. What you don't recognize is that
they are realizing that too, and aren't really cold, catty,
mean or insincere, but that they are as confused as you.
You look at your job... and it is not even close to what
you thought you would be doing, or maybe you are
looking for a job and realizing that you are going to have
to start at the bottom and that scares you. Your opinions
have gotten stronger. You see what others are doing and
find yourself judging more than usual because suddenly
you realize that you have certain boundaries in your life
and are constantly adding things to your list of what is
acceptable and what isn't. One minute, you are insecure
and then the next, secure.
You laugh and cry with the greatest force of your life. You
feel alone and scared and confused. Suddenly, change is
the enemy and you try and cling on to the past with dear
life, but soon realize that the past is drifting further and
further away, and there is nothing to do but stay where
you are or move forward.
You get your heart broken and wonder how someone you
loved could do such damage to you. Or you lie in bed and
wonder why you can't meet anyone decent enough that
you want to get to know better. Or maybe you love
someone but love someone else too and cannot figure out
why you're doing this because you know that you aren't a
bad person. You want to settle down for good because
now all of a sudden that becomes top priority. Getting
wasted and acting like an idiot starts to look pathetic. You
begin to think a companion for life is better than a
hundred in the shack and for once you would not mind
standing tall for that special someone which otherwise
you had never thought of until now.
You go through the same emotions and questions over
and over, and talk with your friends about the same topics
because you cannot seem to make a decision. You worry
about loans, money, the future and making a life for
yourself... and while winning the race would be great,
right now you'd just like to be a contender!
What you may not realize is that every one reading this
relates to it.We are in our best of times and our worst of
times, trying as hard as we can to figure this whole thing
out. Pass this along to your twenty-something friends....
maybe it will help someone feel like they aren't alone in
their state of confusion...
We call it the "Quarter-life Crisis".

KEEP GOING FREND

EVERTHTHING WILL BE OKAY IN THE END
I know right now you may be stressed, worried, troubled, disappointed, dumped, confused… But everything is gonna be OKAY in the END. If it’s not okay then it’s not your end
trust me. You just still have to keep on trying till you make it. I know you are asking yourself several questions like why me
being poor? Why me being disappointed? Why me being Jobless? Why me being confused? Why me being homeless? Why me being cheated on? Why me
not having my own house?
Why me being dumped?
Why me being childless?
Why me being single? Why me not being happy like other people? And many
more different questions,
But I tell you what my friend, everyone has his or her own day of luck, we all have different chances and
opportunities. They just never happen on the same days. Your day will come.
So don’t LOSE HOPE and don’t think of GIVING UP right now. You will be the happiest at the END. It’s a matter of being PATIENT, DETERMINED and praying to
GOD. Don’t hate yourself and don’t hate life because you’re not the only one in that situation. We are all going through that. God be
with you.

the greatest frustrations

One of the greatest frustrations with people is that they can demand of you more that they deserve or more than you have to give. People can be selfish and very inconsiderate.
Remember this: Owe no man anything except to love him. Romans 13:8
You may not owe them the time they demand, but you owe them love.
You may not owe them an explanation, but you owe them love.
You may not owe them the allegiance they seek, but you owe them love.
You may not owe them the money, but you owe them love.
You may not owe them to attend their event, but you owe them love.
You may not owe them the favor that they are demanding, but you owe them love.
You may not owe them the gift that they are hinting about, but you owe them love.

Don't let people rip you apart. Don't let them strip you bare, constantly asking for more from you and causing you to be angry and bitter. But even if you have to say no, do it in love. They still deserve dignity and respect even as you decline. God says that no matter what they do, YOUR DEBT TO LOVE THEM IS NEVER PAID. YOU ALWAYS OWE PEOPLE LOVE!
Don't let people walk all over you but neither should you walk all over people because you are offended! Walk in love.
That is maturity and that is balance!
Have a loving week yáll.

relationship matters

Brad Pitt About His Wife: ... "My wife got sick. She was constantly nervous because of problems at work, personal life, her failures and problems with children.
She has lost 30 pounds and weighted about 90 pounds in her 35 years. She got very skinny, and was constantly crying. She was not a happy woman.
She had suffered from continuing headaches, heart pain and jammed nerves in her back and ribs. She did not sleep well, falling asleep only in the morning and got tired very quickly during the day.
Our relationship was on the verge of break up. Her beauty was leaving her somewhere, she had bags under her eyes, she was poking her head, and stopped taking care of herself.
She refused to shoot the films and rejected any role. I lost hope and thought that we’ll get divorced soon…
But then I decided to act on it. After all I've got the most beautiful woman on the earth. She is the idol of more than half of men and women on earth, and I was the one allowed to fall asleep next to her and to hug her shoulders.
I began to pamper her with flowers, kisses and compliments. I surprised her and pleased her every minute. I gave her lots of gifts and lived just for her. I spoke in public only about her. I incorporated all themes in her direction. I praised her in front of her own and our mutual friends.
You won’t believe it, but she blossomed. She became even better than before. She gained weight, was no longer nervous and she loved me even more than ever. I had no clue that she CAN love that much.
And then I realized one thing: The woman is the reflection of her man.
If you love her to the point of madness, she will become it. " - Brad Pitt, A Secret of Love.

family issues

Two men at a bus stop started a conversation.
One of them keeps complaining of family problems.
Finally, the other man says, "You think you have family problems?"
Listen to my situation.. A few years ago I met a young
widow with a grown-up daughter and we got married.
Later, my dad married my stepdaughter. That made my
stepdaughter my step-mom and my dad became my stepson-in-
law.
Also my wife became mom-in-law to her dad-in-law.
Then my wife's daughter, my step-mom, had a son. This boy
was my half-brother 'cause he was my dad's son, but he was
also the son of my wife'sdaughter, which made him
my wife's grandson.
That made me the grandfather of my half-brother. This was nothing until my wife and I had a son. Now, the half-sister of my son, my stepmom, is also the grandmom. My dad is the bro-in-law of my child, who is the stepbrother of
my dad's wife!
AND YOU THINK YOU HAVE FAMILY PROBLEMS?" The other guy fainted.

who to date

Date a guy who loves Jesus
By Tinashe Maruta
Date the guy who has his heart set on having God’s heart. Date a guy who’s captured by Christ.
There’s nothing more beautiful than seeing that strong man that you’ve known melt in compassion and reverence in the presence of God. To see him fall to his knees, with tears in his eyes and hands held high, without a care to the world watching him. But you will notice, this guy’s got something.
Date the guy who’s not afraid to show it.
You’re blessed if you get him, for they’re not easy to find. They might say that they believe, just to be close to you. But if you find a guy who really loves God, hold on to him.
The guy who loves Jesus will respect you. He’ll pursue you, pray for you, treasure you. He won’t pressure you or control you, but gently walk beside you and lead you. He will appreciate you as the gift and beauty you are, and remind you of it every day.
The guy who loves Jesus will worship with you. He’ll pray for you, he’ll pray with you. He will lead you with strong hands, stand up when you can’t… but remind you that only God can satisfy. He’ll search you out like the Proverbs 31 Woman, and love you with agape like only he can.
Date a guy who loves Jesus with everything he is. He’ll be good to you, he’ll treat you well, and when you spend your life with him, it will be beautiful. He’s been created just for you, and together you’ll find and follow your purpose.
Date a guy who loves Jesus because you deserve it. and when you finally find him, don’t forget to thank God every single day he’s around.
Or better yet, marry a guy who loves Jesus

JESUS

Who is Jesus? In chemistry, He turned water to wine. In biology, He was born without the normal conception; In physics, He disapproved the law of gravity when He ascended into heaven; In economics, He disapproved the law of diminishing return by feeding 5000 men with two fishes & 5 loaves of bread; In medicine, He cured the sick and the blind without administering a single dose of drugs, In history, He is the beginning and the end; In government, He said that He shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace; In religion, He said no one comes to the Father except through Him; So. Who is He? He is Jesus! Join me and let's celebrate Him; He is worthy. The eyes beholding this message shall not behold evil, the hand that will send this message to everybody shall not labor in vain, and the mouth saying Amen to this prayer shall smile forever. Remain in God and seek his face always. Amen! In God I've found everything! The Greatest Man in History Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master. Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher. Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer. He had no army, yet kings feared Him. He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world. He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him. He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today. I feel honored to serve such a Leader who loves us! If you believe in God and in Jesus Christ His Son. Send this to all on your contact list. Let someone know of the works of the Lord thy God. Also note, u are sending this without any threat, just let the whole world appreciate the Lord of Lords. Do not hesitate....

wotch out

HE ONLY WANTED 1 THING FROM YOU
He only wanted 1 thing from you from the
start. That is why he always wanted to
come to your house or bring you over to
his. That is why when he took you out it
was to a fast food drive through and it was
after the sun went down. That is why if he
did take you out to dinner, it was the next
town over so no one who knew him would
be there.

He only wanted 1 thing from you. That is
why he started talking about massages
from day one. That is why conversations
turned to talking about sexy you looked to
him by day 2 and how no matter what you
are talking about, no matter how serious
the conversation was he always had a way
to bring it talking about sex. - Be aware of
these types of conversations because it
shows that he is more interested in your
body and what he can do with it than being
interested in your mind and focusing on
the future...............100% STOLEN
This are some of the minor things that you should avoid in your CV and that can cost you big time.
a)Funny email addresses: sexywanjiku@gmail.com - It may look sexy or swag but the recruiter reads immaturity and may conclude that you are not aware of the job you are applying for.
b)Pictures on your RESUME: please picture will do you good if they are in facebook ,photo album, wallet etc but DON'T put photos in your CVs.
c)Grammatical Errors: This sends the wrong signal to the recruiter. If you cant proof a two-page document for yourself, how will you write a report for a huge project?
d)Using Spouse or Sibling as reference: Using your sibling or spouse is just not professional.
e)Wrong contacts: Before sending the CV , just make sure that the contact numbers and email addresses are reachable.
f)Very Lengthy RESUME :Nobody has the time to read a 10 page CV. 2 page CV is always fine.

Here is a sample of a cover letter for a fresh gratuate who has undertaken internship during their undergraduate study.
 Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to inform you of my interest for the job of an accountant as was recently advertised on patajobs (or any other source). I recently obtained my degree from university of _____ with a second upper divison. As a graduate in accounting i have acquainted myself with a range of skills that will allow me to blend with the culture of your organisation.
Apart from being a proactive  learner , i was involved in extra-curricular activities inside and outside the campus.I was in the organizing committee that launched on of the largest  career and education seminar in july 2011, attended by over 5000 people.
My enthusiastic involvement in many activities outside of the academic circle has served me well in nurturing my leadership and communication skills, which are essential to succeed in the working world.
I appreciate your time reviewing my application, and it will be a pleasure for me to attend an interview with you at your convenient time.
Yours sincere,
______________________

From the cover letter , you can tell that doing internship no matter how insignificant is important for your career.Again small things like club memberships are very important.
1.So Tell me more about yourself:
-Be very careful not to give the recruiter your life history. You don't need to explain everything from birth to present day.Relevant facts about your career, education and current life situation is just fine.
2.Why did you leave your last job:
-It is not a good idea to mention money , it makes you sound mercenary. And if you are in the unfortunate position of being downsized, just be positive about it.If you were fired , then just have a good reason and be positive while answering.
3.Tell me more about what you know about this company:
-Please try and do your homework very well before going for an interview. You should be knowlegeable about the company that you wish to work for.Do the background work as it will make stand out as someone who is prepared and interested with the job.
4.How are you when working under Pressure:
-There are several ways to answer this but always remain positive. You may work well under pressure, you may thrive under pressure or you may PREFER working under pressure.
5.What motivates you to do a good job:
-The answer to this is not money, even if it is.you should be motivated by life noble pursuits.Probably you want to get recognition for a job well done. You want to become better at your job, or you want to help others etc.

Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name

The sun comes up, it's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name

You're rich in love, and You're slow to anger
Your name is great, and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore

Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name

Jesus, I'll worship Your holy name
Lord, I'll worship Your holy name

Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name
Jesus, I'll worship Your holy name
I'll worship Your holy name
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time." {1 Peter 1:3-5}
Nero’s persecution of Christians was raging in Rome. No doubt the persecution would be expanding throughout the Roman Empire. Therefore, Peter wrote to encourage believers to stand strong and remind them that this earth is simply a layover on the journey home.
The life of the believer is a life of assurance and confidence even in the face of great challenge. Through God’s great mercy we are saved and through the death, burial and resurrection of his Son the road home has been paved. The heavenly inheritance that awaits us is “shielded by God’s power.” Unlike the shiny stuff of the world it “can never perish, spoil or fade.”
“Normal” life (whatever normal is) can lull us into a temporal focus, but the valleys of life (sickness, death, divorce, job loss, job stress) remind us that heaven is our home and causes us to long for it. That’s the message that Peter’s readers needed to hear. Maybe that’s the message you need to hear today.
Prayer:
Father, the journey to heaven is fraught with distractions. Keep our eyes fixed on our certain inheritance. As we watch things rust, rot and disappear around us, thank you for the inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
God Bless!

In order to renovate the house, a guy in Japan breaks open the wall. Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls. When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck there because a nail from outside hammered into one of its feet. do not give up

MORE ABOUT HOLY KEANE AMOOTI AND WHERE GOD HAS BROUGHT HIM FROM + HIS MUSIC###### AMOOTI:"At the age of 9months, i began staying with my grand mom in the western part of Uganda. She was my "everything" and our love grew deeper and deeper every moment. We owned a small bar where many came to take beers en all types alcohol. Therefore, money wasn't a problem in the family. In 1998,i lost my mom due to AIDS. In 2000 when i was 15 years, my dad dies due to HIV AIDS. These incidences didn't bother me so much because i had no serious relationship with them. In 2003, i lost my "strong pillar" grand mom. This didn't leave me the same...because it completely changed my attitude towards life. Life had no meaning at all. i was hopeless and tried to commit suicide 3 times... But by HIS grace nothing happened. After 3 months the aunt i was staying with also died...this brought the feeling of being cursed or bewitched and not loved by God. My heart was filled with bitterness and anger that i could not accept to listen to any preacher or anything positive. i had no friends but myself and life was to survive. All i thought was death from time to time as i thought my time was near.. but thank God, I am a living testimony today. One sunny afternoon as i was moving aimlessly in the city of Kampala, i saw a big gathering of people and decided to join them. This was a crusade hosted by Bishop David Kiganda at Nakivubo blue and the preacher was Todd Bentley of fresh fire ministries. At this crusade i witnessed God's power because the blind were gaining their sight, the lame walking and more miracles. This didn't leave me the same. GET TO KNOW MORE ABOUT JAMIE SAWYERS +LINK TO HIS MUSIC########### Born on November 20 1984, Jamian Sawyers, a young man more affectionately known as ‘Jamie’, was born and raised in the notorious community of Flanker in Montego Bay Jamaica. During his earlier years, he would travel all over Jamaica in the front seat of his father’s mini bus. At that time, Jamie’s father was an evangelist and shared his appreciation for music with him. Jamie would listen attentively to artistes such as Al Green, Lester Lewis, Grace Thrillers and Steve Brock. While at home, he listened through an old record player, thus setting the platform for his keen, uncanny ability to write songs and catchy melodies.Amidst these catchy melodies, Jamie was faced with a harsh reality. He was a terrible singer. One day while at church, he prayed to the Lord, imploring him to bestow him with the gift of music, as well as a voice that would act as the vehicle for his gift. God heard and answered his prayer. With determination, practice and vocal training, Jamie has grown into the mature singer he is today. In 2012, Jamie released his first single, a cover of the popular chorus “Jehovah Jireh”. The song garnered much attention and served as his first official video release. Jehovah Jireh, along with his other hit singles “Pull Ova “ and “Di Word” (The word) are rotated on radio stations worldwide. He was nominated for the Best New Gospel Minister Category in the 2013 ACGMA (Atlanta Caribbean Gospel Award). Currently, he is working on his debut album being produced by his childhood friend Rickroy Williams under the exclusive Da’ Conquest Music Label. Jamie is a young man called by God to present the gospel to the world. He has come a far way since using his writing skills on love letters to young girls in high school; he has now answered to the higher calling of God through Jesus Christ and now believes that the best is yet to come. do not cry

IT'S OK TO CRY If you need to cry because you just broke up with someone who was so special to you, then cry… There’s nothing wrong with doing that because within those clear tears are hurt, pain, questions, love, anger regret and more. You must let them out or you will only explode within yourself. You may cry for many days and nights as you want, but just make sure when you're finished, you never cry for the same reason again, I know u feel so down but overtime you will be back to your old self, laughing again, having fun again and being who you truly are, It’s not the end, Someone understanding who won’t treat you like a toy just like the way your EX did will come your way and wipe away all your tears, erase that pain and even give you endless tears if happiness.

salvation assurance

Is My Salvation Assured? "And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life." {1 John 5:11-13} Can I know for sure that I am a Christian? Can I know for sure that when I die I will go to heaven? God says, “Yes, you can know for sure.” Check out today’s passage. John says that the purpose of his first letter is for people to know that they have eternal life. No one has to live with uncertainty. No one has to hope that it all works out in the end. No one has to wait until the second after they die to discover their eternal destiny. Eternal life comes from God and that life is found in Jesus Christ. If you have trusted in Jesus Christ as the only way to have a relationship with God, you have eternal life. If you have not trusted in Jesus, you don’t have eternal life. Our eternal assurance is not based on what we have done but on who we know. The question is: Do you know Jesus? Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for providing the way to God by your death on the cross. Help us to always be thankful for this great gift of grace. Thank you for assurance. In your name we pray. Amen. God Bless!

The term most commonly refers to audits in accounting, but similar concepts also exist in project management, quality management, water management, and energy conservation Auditing is a vital part of accounting. Traditionally, audits were mainly associated with gaining information about financial systems and the financial records of a company or a business. Financial audits are performed to ascertain the validity and reliability of information; also to provide an assessment of a system's internal control. The goal of an audit is to express an opinion of the person / organization / system (etc.) in question, under evaluation based on work done on a test basisSafety, security, information systems performance, and environmental concerns are increasingly the subject of audits. There are now audit professionals who specialize in security audits and information systems audits. With nonprofit organizations and government agencies, there has been an increasing need for performance audits, examining their success in satisfying mission objectives 2.1.6 Change and strategy, The human resource department is divided into three departments and each department is headed by a manager. That is the human resource that deals with salaries of the employees’, medicals and leaves and medicals. There is also the organization development that is concern with recruitment, performance management and staff development and finally in human resource department there is also the training and development section that deals basically with the training of the employment so as to ensure that there is continuous growth and development in the organization. 2.1.7 Shared Services Refers to the provision of a service by one part of an organization or group where that service had previously been found in more than one part of the organization or group. Apart from the OS installation, I installed application software’s like Office 2010, Java, anti-virus, and Adobe reader. I also installed utility software’s i.e. drivers because of the formatting the computer and installation of OS. 17 • Did some maintenance to machines with software’s issues and also the ones with loosely fix or damaged cables for the customers • Setting up computers to its fully functional state and repairing systems once those breakdowns. • Able to configure internet to the computers which presented with a connection error 2.2.2 System Support • Diagnosing and troubleshooting of computers and its accessories as requested by the users and lectures. • Setting up computers to its fully functional state and repairing systems once they broke downs. • Able to configure internet to the computers which presented a connection error and b e sold • Able to install software needed for classes held in the respective labs 2.2.3 Configuration and maintenance • Setting up machines to connect to the internet by configuring their proxy and port number • Configured accounts users accounts and administrations configuration after reinstalling the Operating Systems. • Did some maintenance to machines with software’s issues and also the ones with loosely fix or damaged cables. • Learnt how to configure roles in windows server 2008 in order to install specific applications. • Restoring of damaged Operating Systems to the previous restoration point for customers 2.2.3 Information system in the attached in the Department 2.2.3.1 Hardware • Sony and Toshiba projectors • Cisco Switches for interconnection of the Local Area Network 18 • APC Battery back-up with surge protecting system • Network Cable Rack with air conditioned cabinet • Email Exchange server • Computer battery • The personal computers are HP and with 3.4GHz processes, 1 GB RAM , and at least 120 GB Hard-disk 2.2.3.2 Software • Human Resource Management System • E-mail: Microsoft outlook exchange Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows XP Professional and Windows 2007 professional. • Application software –Microsoft Office 2010 professional, visual studio 6 and .NET, Java Sun, Oracle SQL. • Antivirus software –Mcfee. 19 2.2.4.4 INTER BRANCHES CONNECTIONS 2.2.4 Network 2.2.4.1 Internet and Email Currently the Dazaar uses a 10/100 Mbps fast Ethernet connection to connect the Internet. This was ascertained by the following observations.  I did observe that team work played quite a very important role in attaining most of the Dazaar’s mandates. It was equally important as the ability to work independently but the goal must find a way to combine it in the right way.  Most ofDazaar’s employees especially the ones I worked with are committed to their work as most of them would come very early in the morning, leave very late in the evenings and at times go to work over the weekends in order to make sure that the systems are up and running to allow users to receive good and better sevices, something I felt that very few employees in a given organization would do.  Interns are given the much needed supervisory support that goes beyond work related issues. This was evidently portrayed given that my immediate supervisor would once in a while spend at least part of his private time to talk to me over issues that touches one’s life and this was very encouraging. 3.2.1 Importance of ITprogram towards attachment  Networking units give one the ability to understand and repair problems of this nature  The course also give one the ability to see, understand and work under and organization structure  Hardware and software knowledge help in diagnosing and repair of arising problems related 20 3.2.2 Importance of the student learning  I gained practical experience in the fields of hardware and software configuration and software configuration which was covered in my course.  Helped to apply academic knowledge to a real life work environment  Helped to understanding the organizational culture which is comprised of different cultures. Challenges  Hardware configuration  Repairing of systems damaged by viiruses  Troubleshooting hardware problems  Slaving a hard disk  System failure due to the user having all administrative rights  Loss of data due to insufficient partitioning of the hard disk  Reapiring an operarating system 2.1.2 Software Maintenance Responsibilities • Installation of drivers such as printer drivers • Data back up • Upgrade of softaware • Reinstallation of software example operating systems and other application software such as officeAttending to problems raised by users in the Ministry • Cleaning of viruses and updating the antivirus • Software configuration 21 Lessons Learnt • To clean various viruses from a computer • To fix the memory boot record of a computer • Troubleshooting techniques of software related problems • To check software compatibility Challenges  Toubleshooting of software problems  Viruses, due to lack of proper management of software update tools, computers run on very old antiviruses and even at times trial versions which are not effective  Complete loss of data even after performing data recovery  Understanding the problems from the user’s perspective. The user may have a problem in describing the real problem he/ she wants resolved  Recovering of lost data sometimes is difficult  Using the minimum time in solving a software problem 2.1.3 Network Trouble shooting and installation Responsibilities • Adding new users to the LAN network • Configuration of machines in order to join the workgroup • Responding to users complains when there is a problem in the network • Cable termination e.g terminating cross over cables for the network • Setting default websites to computers 22 • Setting the LAN connections • Configuring IP protocaols Lessons learnt  Troubleshooting networking problems  Expanding of the network, inorder to handle more machines in the network  Use of network configuration tools Challenges • Ip address conflicting • Use of networking installation tools 2.1.4 Database administration and user support Responsibilities Database management and supporting staff on the use of computer applications The applications and facilities used involved:- • Ms Word 2007 • Ms word 2003 • Mysql • PHP • Visual Basic • Ms Access 23 Lessons learnt  Database management skills by use of PHP and Mysql  Server applications  Handling new users of the computer  Communication skills  Running queries to manage the data base Challenges • Some users make mistakes in using the computers which leads to mulfunctioning of the system • Human errors caused during computer operations • Conveying the right message to the users • Introduction of computers to new users • Some users inability to express their problem thus making it even more difficult to tackle the problem CHAPTER THREE Conclusion The attachment was very successful as provided me with the opportunity to put to practice the knowledge gained in class and even enabled me interract and network with several people in IT field. 24 Streangths of the attachment • The attachment enabled the practical application of the theoretical skills leant in class • It acts as a stepping stone into the market as it prepares one for the jobs, this is through the ability to allow one to gain the skills that are required by the market • It enabled the exposure to new technologies that are emerging into the market. This ensures that one is up to date with the current technology that is in use • Enhances a more understanding of the skills gained in class through the learning period 3.2 Weaknesses of the attachment 1. Period of attachment The scheduled time of the attachment is short thus one is not able to gain much in the process 2. The learning process for the course should focus more on the practical aspects than theory this is a case that one is not capable of performing certaion tasks not because of lack of skills but inability to apply them in real life application 3.3 Recommendations In order to make the training programme better, the mentioned suggested improvements could be put in place to ensure proper preparation into the work enviroment 1. The course or curriculumn should be tailored to include more of practical sessions in order to prevent incompetencies in the field and ensure that the students becomes more productive in the industry The university should ensure that they get connection with industry and there fore should be able to get places for attachment for the students instead of strudents struggling to get a place by themselves which sometimes prove to be difficult. prove my skills, knowledge of various components and how to troubleshoot them. 25 3.3 Critiques of the Organization and program • Department does not have enough mandate to carry out hardware repairs in terms of hardware component replacement. • The university order and supply process was slow hence hinder fast and rapid development of the department. IMPROVE YOUR JOB OPPOTUNITIES

By Dorcas Karuana, Recently, I advertised some positions and received a great number of CV’s from different candidates who probably thought they are the ideal candidates for the job. However, as I read went through the applications I found a number of mistakes made by many candidates either in the application email, cover letter or in the CVs. To be sincere, I did not read some of the applications not because I hate the person or the person is not qualified, but because s/he did not follow the job application instructions that are indicated on the advert. For those that passed the job applications instructions stage, I had time to scan through their Cover Letters and CVs. However, my reaction after perusing some copies was ” What on earth is this’? I wonder what was going through the candidate’s mind as they put together that CV. Employers will judge you on what your CV says about you. Therefore let it portray you in the best light by saying the right things about you. Does your do that? Unfortunately, if there are question marks in any area of your CV, the decision is made without giving you an opportunity to explain. 1. Lack of following instructions: For instance if the adverts says you write the subject of the email as; “Human Resource Assistant 25-30K,” then you have no choice but do it. Failure is portrays you as person who cannot follow simple instructions. Do not give the Human Resource Managers a reason to trash your CV by just sending in your CV without any word or writing “HR Assistant” or “Mary’s CV” Job Seekers2. Grammatical Mistakes on your email application, cover letter or CV. There’s no room for poor spelling and punctuation in either your email, cover letter or your CV. For example, some people misspell words in the email subject such as “Aplication For Human Resuorce Assistant.” For Cover letters and CVs, keep sentences short to avoid confused punctuation and, if you can, give it to a friend to check it over. Spell checking should be the very last thing you do before sending it off. 3. You did not attach the documents as asked in the advert. In most cases, adverts will specify the documents you should send while applying for a job. If you are asked to send a CV and cover letter, then you got to do it. For Christ sake why do you send an application and either fail to attach anything or just attach a cover letter only? In this case, the cover letter is usually the body of your email and you should as well attach it to the email. A cover letter gives you a chance to get across your personality, ambition and to explain any gaps in your CV. Secondly, the CV should also be attached as either a word document or PDF. 4. Layout and how you save attached documents. Yeas this is another mess that locks out candidates from having their CVs read. Especially for those who use tables in their CVs, sometimes depending on the computer used by the HR Manager, the details tend to split and re-arrange from your initial layout and it becomes very difficult to connect the dots. Secondly always save your documents in ‘Word 97- 2003 Document’ as this is compatible to all computers. Saving I your documents as just ‘Word Documents’ makes it not open in some computers. 5. Lack of a prioritized CV layout The way you layout your CV will depend on your age and work experience level. You can choose between a Skills based (work-focused) CV or Functional (education-focused) CV. If you have don’t have much work experience or you’re looking for a career change, you should place your skills and strengths section before education and employment. 6. Employment history Make sure to include the jobs that are relevant to the position you are applying for. The order should be from the current work experience to the very oldest. However, if you have worked in many places, then give only 4 current and relevant work experiences to the job. In duties and responsibilities do not give a one word sentence but give at least more then 5 words sentence. For instance, do not write; “Payroll,” as it is not clear what you did with payroll. Instead you may write, “Managing human resource payroll system for the company employees.” 7. Skills and strengths Do not restrict your CV to a summary of your personal details, education and work experience. Instead, emphasizing your skills and strengths is vital when writing a CV. A strength is something you’re naturally good at. A skill is something you acquire with education and experience. Make sure to demonstrate how your skills and strengths will help you to do well in the job. 8. Lack of a good simple format Do not use fancy fonts and borders or even colours on your CV unless you are applying for a highly creative job. This only takes the focus of the HR Manager from the important information in your CV. 9. Your personality Your CV should follow a fairly standard format and the interview is where your personality is really important, but you can still stand out from the crowd with the language you use. Check out Clever Word Play for more ideas. 10. Failing to give contact details It is important to provide a range of contact options including your postal address, your main phone number and your email address to make it easy for employers to get in touch with you.

HOW TO GET YOUR EMPLOYER'S ATTENDITION

Common INTERVIEW QUESTIONS and how to ANSWER them: 1. So, tell me a little about yourself. I’d be very surprised if you haven’t been asked this one at every interview. It’s probably the most asked question because it sets the stage for the interview and it gets you talking. Be careful not to give the interviewer your life story here. You don’t need to explain everything from birth to present day. Relevant facts about education, your career and your current life situation are fine. 2. Why are you looking (or why did you leave your last job)? This should be a straightforward question to answer, but it can trip you up. Presumably you are looking for a new job (or any job) because you want to advance your career and get a position that allows you to grow as a person and an employee. It’s not a good idea to mention money here, it can make you sound mercenary. And if you are in the unfortunate situation of having been downsized, stay positive and be as brief as possible about it. If you were fired, you’ll need a good explanation. But once again, stay positive. 3. Tell me what you know about this company. Do your homework before you go to any interview. Whether it’s being the VP of marketing or the mailroom clerk, you should know about the company or business you’re going to work for. Has this company been in the news lately? Who are the people in the company you should know about? Do the background work, it will make you stand out as someone who comes prepared, and is genuinely interested in the company and the job. 4. Why do you want to work at X Company? This should be directly related to the last question. Any research you’ve done on the company should have led you to the conclusion that you’d want to work there. After all, you’re at the interview, right? Put some thought into this answer before you have your interview, mention your career goals and highlight forward-thinking goals and career plans. 5. What relevant experience do you have? Hopefully if you’re applying for this position you have bags of related experience, and if that’s the case you should mention it all. But if you’re switching careers or trying something a little different, your experience may initially not look like it’s matching up. That’s when you need a little honest creativity to match the experiences required with the ones you have. People skills are people skills after all, you just need to show how customer service skills can apply to internal management positions, and so on. 6. How are you when you’re working under pressure? Once again, there are a few ways to answer this but they should all be positive. You may work well under pressure, you may thrive under pressure, and you may actually PREFER working under pressure. If you say you crumble like a pack of cards, this is not going to help you get your foot in the door. 7. What motivates you to do a good job? The answer to this one is not money, even if it is. You should be motivated by life’s noble pursuits. You want recognition for a job well done. You want to become better at your job. You want to help others or be a leader in your field. 8. What’s your greatest strength? This is your chance to shine. You’re being asked to explain why you are a great employee, so don’t hold back and stay do stay positive. You could be someone who thrives under pressure, a great motivator, an amazing problem solver or someone with extraordinary attention to detail. If your greatest strength, however, is to drink anyone under the table or beat your opponent in a game of FIFA11, keep it to yourself. The interviewer is looking for work-related strengths. 9. What’s your biggest weakness? If you’re completely honest, you may be kicking yourself in the butt. If you say you don’t have one, you’re obviously lying. This is a horrible question and one that politicians have become masters at answering. They say things like “I’m perhaps too committed to my work and don’t spend enough time with my family.” Oh, there’s a fireable offense. I’ve even heard “I think I’m too good at my job, it can often make people jealous.” Please, let’s keep our feet on the ground. If you’re asked this question, give a small, work-related flaw that you’re working hard to improve. Example: “I’ve been told I occasionally focus on details and miss the bigger picture, so I’ve been spending time laying out the complete project every day to see my overall progress.” 10. Let’s talk about salary. What are you looking for? Run for cover! This is one tricky game to play in an interview. Even if you know the salary range for the job, if you answer first you’re already showing all your cards. You want as much as possible, the employer wants you for as little as you’re willing to take. You may want to say, “well, that’s something I’ve thought long and hard about and I think someone with my experience should get between X & Y.” Or, you could be sly and say, “right now, I’m more interested in talking more about what the position can offer my career.” That could at least buy you a little time to scope out the situation. But if you do have a specific figure in mind and you are confident that you can get it, I’d say go for it. 11. Are you good at working in a team? Unless you have the I.Q. of a houseplant, you’ll always answer YES to this one. It’s the only answer. How can anyone function inside an organization if they are a loner? You may want to mention what part you like to play in a team though; it’s a great chance to explain that you’re a natural leader. 12. Would you rather work for money or job satisfaction? It’s not a very fair question is it? We’d all love to get paid a Trump-like salary doing a job we love but that’s rare indeed. It’s fine to say money is important, but remember that NOTHING is more important to you than the job. Otherwise, you’re just someone looking for a bigger paycheck. 13. Would you rather be liked or feared? The genuine answer should be “Neither, I’d rather be respected.” You don’t want to be feared because fear is no way to motivate a team. You may got the job done but at what cost? Similarly, if you’re everyone’s best friend you’ll find it difficult to make tough decisions or hit deadlines. But when you’re respected, you don’t have to be a complete bastard or a lame duck to get the job done. 14. So, explain why I should hire you. As I’m sure you know, “because I’m great” or “I really need a job” are not good answers here. This is a time to give the employer a laundry list of your greatest talents that just so happen to match the job description. It’s also good to avoid taking potshots at other potential candidates here. Focus on yourself and your talents, not other people’s flaws. 15. Finally, do you have any questions to ask me? I’ll finish the way I started, with one of the most common questions asked in interviews. This directly relates to the research you’ve done on the company and also gives you a chance to show how eager and prepared you are. You’ll probably want to ask about benefits if they haven’t been covered already. A good generic one is “how soon could I start, if I were offered the job of course.” You may also ask what you’d be working on. Specifically, in the role you’re applying for and how that affects the rest of the company. Always have questions ready, greeting this one with a blank stare is a rotten way to finish your interview. Good luck and happy job hunting.
